If you have seen the students using a calming breath can you share a story about that?
*When a student was facing a difficult situation we used the countdown method. *When a test becomes difficult, when they become frustrated. Also, in group work with their peers. *A student was upset, so I reminded him to use the yoga technique and breathe. This helped calm him down. *Before taking the PARCC test, we practiced calming breaths. *I teach students with severe behavior issues and the breathing and relaxation techniques are excellent for students like mine. My students often remind me and or their classmates to use "yoga language" and breathing techniques. They will often tell me to "change the channel or go to my happy place." Butler Middle School - Yoga in all Gym Classes 2016-2017
Michelle;
The Richard Butler School staff and students would like to thank you for teaching
Yoga to our school, grades 5-8.
You have taught us various skills that we all can use throughout our lifetime.
Many people consider Yoga as an all around exercise that benefits both mind and body.
You have helped instill mindfulness for these young individuals.

B'Yachad Jewish School 2015-2016
Michelle Brook has provided yoga instruction for our school for the past two years. She is an exceptional teacher, leader, and guide.
Our school is an experiential school which provides once-a-week Jewish studies to a group of learners with a wide range of learning styles. Michelle, after meeting our group only once, masterfully put together 45 minute sessions that allow for our entire learning community to experiment with something new, while still feeling safe. She intuitively knew how to handle students who were more reluctant to try some of the yoga positions she brought to us, and at the very same time, manage other behaviors which could have potentially disrupted the peaceful mood she created.
Lastly, she incorporated Judaism and Jewish themes into the Yoga lessons, to the point where they focused on what the students had studied in their classes earlier that same day. For so many, learning with their bodies at the end of a long morning was the perfect way to be truly present.
We were (and are) very grateful to have Michelle Brook as part of our school and look forward to the next time we have the opportunity to learn Yoga and meditation from her.
